happy fourth!

i generally don't get too excited about holidays, but i enjoyed dressing up today for the fourth of july! i also wore heidi braids for the first time! i've been wanting to do these for forever, and watched lots of tutorials, but my hair has never been long enough, or layers will always stick out weirdly. i was happy with the way the turned out!

i took my saltwaters on our little roadtrip this weekend (pictures of that in an upcoming post!) and i got a sandal tan! guess that's a sign that i should wear some other shoes for once this summer! :D

it's been so incredibly hot, the only ways we've been staying cool are swimming, eating popsicles, and my new favorite treat: goat's milk ice cream! we tried it from a little booth at a flea market over the weekend and it was so delicious! they had a few different flavors, including strawberry-balsamic, but i got mint-chocolate chip since it was so refreshing!


we are having some friends over to our apartment later on for some bbq, and there are fireworks in the park right down the street that you can see right outside our door! i used some decorations from my graduation party to jazz up our kitchen for the evening:
