still dress weather around here

i'm so jealous of all the east coast bloggers wearing fully-fledged fall outfits and talking about leaves changing colors already! here in southern california, it's still basically summer, so i still get to wear dresses for a little while.

outfit // dress: modcloth // belt: thrifted // sweater: nordstrom // flats: urban outfitters

i'm sure everyone was as excited as i was about the modcloth sale! i was lucky enough to snag these wedges and this little dress. just in time for the fall weather!

i've been spending my days knitting, reading, and listening to a lot of belle&sebastian and simon and garfunkel. i've still been in a  introverted, pensive sort of mood, but i have made a few friends and am adjusting little by little. i discovered some cute coffee shops downtown that have music in the evenings, and saw some local bands that i really enjoyed.

speaking of reading, i'm in the market for some new books- does anyone have any good recommendations?

  1. Lovely little outfit! I like it with the cardigan quite a lot.
I can never resist when people ask for book recommendations because that is one of my favorite things to do! Here are three; I don't know your taste, but I hope one of them may be to your liking!

Girl with a Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier
Black Swan Green by David Mitchell
North & South by Elizabeth Gaskell

  2. Cute Modcloth dress! The belt is great with it. I'll never get tired of red accessories and shoes!

And yeah, I know, it's so hot here still. Bleh. However...I want to try to take advantage of the beach one last time before fall really begins.

Hmm, books, books, books...well, I always recommend The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle. I also enjoyed A Confederacy of Dunces. If you're geekily into linguistics and archaeology, The Horse, the Wheel and Language is a non-fiction book that I read not too long ago and thought was really interesting.

  3. Embrace the warmer weather, doll. You look great in that dress. Love those bright red flats too!! Though, I do wish it was a little cooler here in TX too ;)

  4. What a cute outfit! The weather looks absolutely beautiful, enjoy it while it lasts. As for books, if you haven't read The Secret History there is a serious deficit in your life.

  5. I love this dress! It's so adorable. As for book recommendations, Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand was amazing.

  7. I feel your pain with the weather. I'm in Arizona and all I want for Halloween is double digit temperatures ;) This outfit still has a fall feel to it though, great job!
